Job opportunities in Chemical Engineering

Do you know? Chemical engineering jobs are among the top 10 highest paying engineering jobs in India. Chemical Engineering is a Bachelor’s degree with a lot of potential and numerous employment opportunities. A chemical engineers’ career is wide-ranging from biotechnology to biomedical and petroleum industries. Today, chemical engineering is becoming a highly profitable branch of engineering with a huge scope for growth in India as well as abroad.

Currently, chemical engineering is significant as there is a global shift towards renewable resources such as hydroelectric and solar.  Chemical engineers apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and math to solve problems that involve the use of fuel, food, drugs, and many other products.

How to become a chemical engineer?

Chemical engineers must have a bachelor’s degree(B. Tech./ B. E) in chemical engineering or a related field.

What do chemical engineers do after graduation?

Chemical engineers work mostly in laboratories and industries. They may spend time at industrial plants, refineries, and other locations, where they monitor or direct operations or solve onsite problems.  Chemical engineering graduates are needed in a wide variety of industries. The main role of chemical engineers is to design and troubleshoot processes for the production of chemicals, fuels, pharmaceuticals, foods, and biologicals etc.

After completion of the B. Tech. or B. E. chemical engineering students will become process engineer, production engineer, petroleum engineer, food engineer, environmental engineer, analytical chemist and  project engineer, consulting engineer and production engineer etc.  Pharmaceutical field is best suited to those who are especially interested in biochemistry, manufacturing, and research and development.

Chemical engineers can find major employment opportunities in oil refineries, Gas and oil extraction, Power generation industries, Pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, Agrochemical industries,  Polymer Industries and Beverage Industries etc.

If you want to become a chemical engineer then count yourself lucky. Because there are plenty of opportunities available in this branch. So many, in fact, it can be hard to know which to pick.
